Argentine Tango Boot Camp – An immersion process in learning the structure of Tango Milonguero
A Milonguero boot camp for Milonguero style Argentine Tango!
The Frame, The Posture and The Walking
These elements can’t be cheated so we will build you from the your feet to your head in such a fashion that by the end of this class – reinforced of course by all consecutive classes – your body will remember and know the posture you MUST dance from.
Moving With of Your Partner – Not moving Your Partner
By being aware of our partner before you take step, we will set the stage for your dancing to grow faster because you cannot move without your partner – neither of you!
Walking with Music in Your Body
Making the walk a part of the music early in the learning process is vital to a good foundation. We will show, demonstrate and teach you some basic musical movements that are easy, fun and an actual part of the music itself.
Simple and Musical is Better!
By feeling the rhythms of the music in simple steps you can lay a concrete foundation to how you begin to move with your parter for the rest of your tango learning process.
Some Steps to Rely On
Tango is difficult enough without overwhelming you when you are beginning to get the foundation into your muscle memory. Here is where you will learn some challenging but not distracting steps to move you around the floor with your partner.
Pre-registration required: please contact Rusty or Jo at 520-468-5536 or jo@learn-to-tango.com
Thanks to all that came out for the milonguita on Friday so much fun, wow! And thanks to TTS for hosting Jay at the milonga on Saturday. Great times by all there!
This was a very joyful weekend for all that participated in Jay’s workshop. So many clear, provocative and insightful moments. Not to mention the camaraderie and community bonding.
We will be reviewing the t’ai chi approach on Tuesday night:
“Deep technique in leading & following pivots. What does it mean to be grounded?” – so whether you could make the workshop or not come out and add some depth to your tango perspective by enhancing your balance and grounding!
Get some rest and shine your shoes… the festival is in 4 weeks!!!
With Love & Light,
Rusty
Love is the rhythm
You are the music
Life is the dance.
Dance in the beautiful Presidido Park! (click to enlarge)
At 2:00 PM on the 7th of February, 2010 we will begin to play solid gold tango music with Joanne Canalli as your DJ. We will dance tango in the splendor of our Arizona weather. This is guerrilla outdoor milonga so don’t wear your best shoes, though the brick is easy to dance on!
We will hang in the park for a while then move along the route shown on the map. Look for us somewhere along the route if you arrive later. We will dance until 3:30 or 4:00 PM.
What’s amazing about this video is that Jay and Brigitta had only danced together once prior to this performance. No rehearsals.
We are in San Diego with our friends at the San Diego Festival – there are a lot of good dancers here. And as good dancers they are very selective about how and with whom they expand their tango. All of these San Diegans are telling us how pleased they are that Jay Abling has moved here and how excited they are about the changes his teaching and dancing style is changing their dancing.
And to think he will be doing a workshop in our community January 28-31st, 2010.
