Argentine Tango Boot Camp – An immersion process in learning the structure of Tango Milonguero

A Milonguero boot camp for Milonguero style Argentine Tango!

  1. The Frame, The Posture and The Walking
    • These elements can’t be cheated so we will build you from the your feet to your head in such a fashion that by the end of this class – reinforced of course by all consecutive classes – your body will remember and know the posture you MUST dance from.
  2. Moving With of Your Partner – Not moving Your Partner
    • By being aware of our partner before you take step, we will set the stage for your dancing to grow faster because you cannot move without your partner – neither of you!
  3. Walking with Music in Your Body
    • Making the walk a part of the music early in the learning process is vital to a good foundation. We will show, demonstrate and teach you some basic musical movements that are easy, fun and an actual part of the music itself.
  4. Simple and Musical is Better!
    • By feeling the rhythms of the music in simple steps you can lay a concrete foundation to how you begin to move with your parter for the rest of your tango learning process.
  5. Some Steps to Rely On
    • Tango is difficult enough without overwhelming you when you are beginning to get the foundation into your muscle memory. Here is where you will learn some challenging but not distracting steps to move you around the floor with your partner.

Jay Abling in Tucson January 28-31, 2010

By rusty, November 29, 2009
Jay Abling is one of our instructors for the Tucson Tango Festival because not only is he an accomplished instructor and dancer, he is a community builder.

Jay’s philosophy on his web site grabbed me right off:
Better Dancers, Better People, Better Community.
click here for Jay’s website. I met Jay years ago on the tango trail in Portland, San Francisco, LA and other festival/milongas and he is a genuinely good spirit, leader and instructor.

Kristine Goodwin, one of the best dancers in Tucson asked me to bring Jay Abling to Tucson, because she knows he has things to offer both the leaders and followers in our community, and I agree.
Ladies: Jay is a fantastic social leader/dancer. He has danced with some great followers.
Gentlemen: Ladies love dancing with Jay.
