Cruzada is a Led Step

Leading the Cruzada – 101

Remember: the cross – cruzada – is lead, not choreographed. You need to learn to lead the front cross and be sure your partner is following, to do this go slower and don’t always cross or lead a cruzada to test your connection with your partner. To demystify the front cross notice how I simple use the mirrored position (in other words I cross, too) to learn how it feels to actually lead the cruzada.

Follower, be sure you are relaxed in your trailing leg allowing the leader to place it in front of your standing foot, thus creating the cruzada. After you are sure you are following, then give gentle feed back as to how the lead feels to you. Move slowly and together until you know you are leading and following the cruzada!

Pardon the missing video… Yahoo canceled their video hosting and I need to reshoot this!!!

Followers, remove any illusion that you are at the mercy of the man. Always take the step as though it were yours. You have a split second to see where the step is going, in that moment, take the step as though it were your idea and take responsibility for you balance.

Leaders, allow time for your follower to be with you. Never rush off without her and be sure you are offering invitations, not forced leads!

Love & Light,
Rusty & Jo
