Tango is a blend of passion, body, mind, spirit and soul. Consequently tango is constantly calling to me to raise my awareness – of both tango and life. The proper grammatical reference to tango is “the tango” and yet almost everyone I know that has passionately been pursuing tango for number of years begins to refer to it as just “tango” in the same way I would refer to John or Betty – tango becomes more like an entity than a thing.
You can do the waltz or the fox trot. You can learn to dance the salsa or the west coast swing. Tango, however is a life style – complete with traditions, codes and culture. Sure you can dance the tango but in the circles where I hang, teach, live, love, dance and share tango, it is not referred to or thought of as a dance as much as it is something that inhabits you. Saying I “do the tango” is like saying I do breahting or I do sex, Tango is something that happens to you, something that embraces you and something you embrace.
Tango may very well be a healthy human virus. Once it gets into you, once you can finally move in tango with another person pressed tightly against your heart and experience the melding of oneness with another living, breathing human being, you are never the same again. You can never be the same again because you see through the illusion that we are separate and you come to realize there is a resounding and profound truth in the fact that we really are one.
I am one with you and you are one with me. This is the fact. The illusion is the separation. Tango rules!
With Love, Light and Connectedness,
Rusty
