Tango is a fun way to challenge your body mind connection!

Thursday night at 7:00pm is a progressive class for Beginners and for those who wish to review the foundations of fluid and musical tango. This class is designed for those who are brand new or have been through an Intro to Tango. Participants in this class will progress over time as we review steps, embrace, connection and musicality each week with different approaches. This class overlaps with the 8:00 PM Progressive Intermediate class and beginners are welcome to stay the entire evening if they feel energized to do so. The conceptual flow is here:
1. 7:00-7:30 - Absolute Foundation: Rhythmic walking and connection
2. 7:30-8:00 - Fundamentals of Moving with your Partner: Embrace, rhythm and basic steps
3. 8:00-8:30 - Moving with a Destination: Expanding steps and rhythms one by one
4. 8:30-9:00 - Stepping With Concepts: Application of all concepts and steps covered.
At 8:00pm the Progressive Intermediate class begins and we introduce elements and figuras that are easy to learn, simple to apply musically and are user-friendly on the social dance floor. During all of our classes we provide information on the history of Argentine Tango and the traditional music, along with the codigos and dance floor navigation to prepare you for the "Milonga" (the name of the event where we get together and dance tango). Our objective is to enable you to be confident, successful and a sought after dancer at the Milonga, both here in Tucson and out in the rest of the tango world including Buenos Aires. Classes are $10 for an hour or $15 for the full evening.

The ABCs of Tango

Group Classes are Fun!

Group Classes introduce you to the tango community!

Our Curriculum Looks Like This:
Foundation Class:
1. Tango Walking - Tango is known as The Walking Dance it is imperative that your walk is honed and refined into a strong, sensibly organic, bi-pedal movement that is effortless and effective for sending and receiving information.
2. 6 Simple Steps - Simple 6 step basic that immediately puts you in touch with the rhythms of the authentic Argentine Tangos you will dance to in class as well as milongas world wide. The rhythms are strong and easy to learn.
3. The Corrida - Corrida means "to run". Using the above rhythms you simply take three forwards to the quicks in the music.
4. Left Rock Turn - Containing the "Crown Jewel of Tango" the left rock turn is your firs introduction to the contra-lateral-spiral that is so predominant in tango, and it happens to be easy to do.
5. The Famous "Cruzada" - Cruzada means: "cross". The cruzada is the hallmark of tango.
6. Intermediate Class
7. Left Turns - From the Famous Media Vuelta to a simple left turn to cruzada we begin introducing you to the famous tango turns in order to navigate the dance floor. Left turns to forward steps and left turns to molinete (meaning little windmill).
8. Right Turns - Right turns will include the famous Ocho Cortado (means to cut and eight) this simple and effective right turn is a chameleon that has many entrances and exits - you can be entertained for years with this simple tango icon. We teach right turns to ocho cortado as well as right turns to molinete in the intermediate class.

**In Addition Read This You Might Qualify for FREE Classes: If you have been studying tango for more than a year the first hour is free for your review, 2 years the second hour is free for your review. It is professionally recommended that 25% of your tango study be comprised of a reintegration of the fundamentals and foundational techniques. The milonguero foundation is what lies beneath all styles of tango. As you grow and change in your style and awareness, revisit the basics to reintegrate the proper foundation into each of your styles. The reasoning here is three fold:
1. You need to review your foundation once you begin dancing to shake off bad habits that appear as you integrate - so incorporate 25% of your study and review to basics! (50% should be milongas and practicas and another 25% should be taxing your abilities to expand your horizons as in the last 30 minutes of this class or our Tuesday night class).
2. It is free to you because we want you to grow and you will be an asset to the class since you have used and seen the techniques before.
3. In this way we can keep our tango community integrated and bridge any divisions or misunderstandings about the absolute basics.
It is common that beginners misinterpret foundational techniques and later get confused by different approaches in different instructors. All you need do is look at the community to see who is dancing with the community, then you will find what works for you. In the end we are all dancing tango, so this will help clean up your foundation; as you learn it always gets a bit muddy :) We look forward to sharing this fabulous method of teaching and learning with you all! See you soon!! We will walk you (all puns intended) through some the most famous and widely danced fuguras in Argentine tango world wide. Once you know these basic figuras you can dance tango anywhere on the planet as you enter the: Intermediate Tango
• Forward Ochos - Many variations and alterations and resolutions
• Backward Ochos - This is not just the retro version of back ochos there are variations and alterations of from ochitas to ganchitas
• Ocho Cortado - Also called Ocho Milonguero - This is the building block of a scores of variations on a common theme
• Left Turn, Media Vuelta - The turn that teaches you to turn your partner without the leader stepping
• Gyro / Molinete - All folk dances use a variation on this circular theme of grapevine
• Sacadas - Simple sacadas that do not disrupt the line of dance or shake up your partner all within the milonguero embrace and style of tango
• Pivots and Intermediate Level Turns and Rock Steps
The walk, the embrace, the connection... TANGO

The Tango Walk, Style Sensuality and Grace!

From the basics all the way to advanced tango will satisfy you while challenging you for years to come. Milongueros of 50 years are known for saying: "You know, I think in this past ten years, my walking has improved a great deal."

PRACTICA Tuesday, 7:30-9pm Practica: Focused on investigating and experimenting with concepts, movements and ideas. This is a community-wide practica with the goal of supporting interactions and exchanges between dancers of all levels and styles. Come along and share an idea or ask questions.
